Driving Lessons Sunderland: The EcoBeast’s New Clothes!

After much deliberation, I finally decided to bite the bullet and have the mighty EcoBeast professionally sign written.

While I adore her looking all stealthy and moody: well, as stealthy and moody as you can be given that she sports a bright red roof, door mirrors, and front grill surround (!), I do enjoy having my vehicles branded.

And do you know what? The decision has proven to be a masterstroke on my part, as the graphics are already turning heads!

I genuinely couldn’t be happier with the final result.

I would like to take the opportunity to give a huge shout out to Chris and the team at ‘Wrap Monkey Vehicle Wrapping in Sunderland for their outstanding service.

Top quality workmanship.

Driving Lessons Sunderland: AND NOW, THE WINNER IS

Finally, after many weeks’ of keeping the news to myself due to an imposed embargo, I am both proud and humbled in equal measure to now be in a position to announce that Chris Chambers School of Motoring has been named ‘Most Trusted Driving School – Sunderland’ in the ‘2017 AI Business Excellence’ awards.

I was notified in December last year that Chris Chambers School of Motoring had been nominated.  Shortly thereafter, I was asked if I would be happy to accept the nomination, and in turn for my business to be short-listed.

While the nomination came totally out of the blue, naturally, I was indeed happy to accept. What seemed like many weeks’ passed, and in February this year I was informed that the judges had made their final decision, and that, happily, Chris Chambers School of Motoring had made it onto the list of winners.

As anyone who knows me will attest, I am not one whom feels the need to pat myself on the back or indeed shout things from the rooftops: I prefer to leave that sort of thing to others, however, on a noteworthy occasion such as this, I feel that it is only right that I share my news!

Chris.

Outstanding work, Rhiannon. I’m absolutely thrilled for you: thoroughly deserved.

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you, and I wish you only the very best for the future.

Driving Lessons Sunderland – Brandon’s Customer Review

“…Chris is a very kind and approachable man who shows a lot of passion towards his job”

“I learned to drive with Chris between October 2016 and May 2017, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Chris has helped me pass my test first time.

Chris is a very kind and approachable man who shows a lot of passion towards his job and never fails to improve upon what he has already accomplished as a driving instructor.  He makes you feel comfortable while learning to drive no matter the conditions or scenario as he wants what is best for his customers in order to get the best out of them and be sure they will be safe on the roads once they’ve passed their test.

My driving experience with Chris was great and I would recommend Chris to anyone that wants to learn to drive, because of the quality of teaching he provides as well as the person he is.”

Driving Lessons Sunderland: The EcoBeast Has Arrived!

THE ECOBEAST HAS ARRIVED!

Following what seems very long few weeks’, I have finally taken delivery of my new tuition vehicle!

She is a Ford Fiesta ST-Line 1.0T 140ps Black Edition.

While this occasion is bittersweet due to my sentimental attachment to my previous tuition vehicle, I am very much looking forward to making many new memories in my new car.

See you on the roads!

Can Hay Fever Affect Your Driving?

An interesting and informative article from guest contributor, Lindsay Neal, on behalf of Go Girl Car Insurance.

Can Hay Fever Affect Your Driving?

One of the few unwelcome summer visitors, hay fever affects around one-third of the population. With its nuisance symptoms, it can interfere with many aspects of everyday life.  As a new driver, it’s worth bearing in mind that hay fever may impact on your driving in a number of ways.

Hazardous driving

When hay fever strikes, watery, itchy eyes, constant sneezing and a runny nose can be a distraction when you’re driving.  Your symptoms may cause you to lose concentration, blur your vision or make you feel generally below par.

Yet, it’s not just the symptoms that can impair your driving ability.  The medications you take to ease the symptoms can cause drowsiness, dizziness and confusion, putting you and others in danger when you’re behind the wheel.

Increasing awareness

Despite this, many people aren’t aware how hay fever can impact their driving, often failing to read medication instructions to weigh up the risks before jumping in their car.  Yet, research has concluded that driving with hay fever could be the equivalent of driving with a 0.05% blood alcohol level.

Crucially, the law doesn’t distinguish between illegal drugs or prescription or over-the-counter medications, so taking the wrong hay fever tablets could result in a hefty fine and a drug-driving conviction, as well as points on your licence.

As a new driver, you’ve passed your test, got your car insurance sorted, and are set to head out on the road.  Hay fever is probably the last thing on your mind when summer comes around, but it’s important to consider the implications this may have on your driving.

What you can do

Before taking any hay fever medication, discuss with your GP or pharmacist if these might impact on your driving capability.  It tends to be the older types of antihistamines that cause drowsiness, but always read the packaging instructions and get expert advice if you’re not sure.  Avoid opening the car windows when the pollen count is high, and instead, switch on the air conditioning, if your car has it.  Wearing sunglasses or using allergen barrier balms may also help.

If all else fails, head to the seaside, the pollen count is much lower by the sea.  Being a new driver out on the road is an exciting freedom to have but along with that comes responsibility, so be sure to always check the packaging and ask for a non-drowsy and long-acting antihistamine formula that doesn’t have a sedative effect if you’re designated driver on your next trip out.

Driving Lessons Sunderland: So Long 2016, Hello 2017!!

…So Long 2016, Hello 2017!!

Given that the year of 2016 is nearing its end, I would like to take this opportunity to say an ENORMOUS thank you to all of my friends and family for their love and support over the last year, both on a personal level, and of course professionally.

ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS!

I would also like to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to all of my students – those past & present (and dare I say… future?!), for placing their trust in me, and in doing so making Chris Chambers School of Motoring what it is today. There are far too many to mention individually, but you all know who you are!

Oh, and of course a big shout out to the Chris Chambers School of Motoring ‘CLASS OF 2016!‘ 👏👏👏

If it was not for the wonderful characters I have had the pleasure to meet, and the sincere recommendations I have received over the years’, then this career I possess an overwhelming passion for would not be half as enjoyable and truly satisfying as it is.

So, here’s wishing a happy and prosperous new year to one and all; let’s make 2017 even more successful than 2016… now, let the celebrations commence!

All the very best for 2017 from all at Chris Chambers School of Motoring [Erm… that’s essentially just big ole’ ME!!]

Driving Lessons Sunderland: Motorway Lessons For Learner Drivers.

Motorway Lessons For Learner Drivers.

Plans are afoot to allow learner drivers to use motorways, in an effort to help them to learn how to join, leave, overtake, and use the lanes correctly.

Learners must be accompanied by an approved driving instructor (ADI), in a vehicle fitted with dual controls.

Furthermore, such lessons will be voluntary.
