Match date: Saturday 25 October 2014
Final score: Sunderland 0 – 2 Arsenal FC
Reflection…
My beloved Sunderland AFC shot themselves in the foot yet again (no change there then on recent showings, eh?!), with more defensive blunders costing the Black Cats dearly.
I didn’t see nor manage to get to the game as I was away for the weekend with my family, however I did manage to catch the final twenty minutes or so on BBC Radio Newcastle… perhaps I now wish I hadn’t!
Anyway, the lads took to the pitch at the SOL and lined up as follows:
Starting eleven-
• Mannone (gk)
• van Aanholt
• O’Shea (c)
• Vergini
• Brown
• Buckley
• Cattermole
• Larsson
• Rodwell
• Johnson
• Fletcher
Subs:
• Pantilimon (gk)
• Mavrias
• Gomez
• Bridcutt
• Réveillere
• Wickham
• Altidore
Given that I didn’t see the game in full, I’m can’t comment on action areas during the game. What I can say however is that we looked fairly solid aside from the two gifted goals, and that we were once again absolutely toothless as an attacking force.
Yes, Christopher is forever the optimist, however recent results and performances have genuinely got me concerned.
It’s Palace away up next, which is a game we absolutely must win in my opinion. We should certainly be winning such fixtures that’s for certain anyway…
My Man Of The Match: Difficult to say given that I didn’t see the full 90 minutes, however from the highlights I did see, Lee Cattermole was probably the pick of a very average bunch on the day.
Next up – Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.
Keep The Faith. Always Believe.
Chris
