Personally I hope that we in the UK go Dutch on this one!<\/strong><\/p>\n

That’s right – Civil Engineers in the Netherlands have developed a paint for use on the highways which contains a “photo-luminising” powder that charges up in the daytime, and in turn slowly releases a green glow at night.<\/p>\n

How cool is that!<\/p>\n

The idea is a step towards doing away with the need for street lights, and there is already a 500m stretch of highway which has had the paint applied.<\/p>\n

If tests are successful, we too could see such markings on the UK’s highways in time. \u00a0There has already been talk of introducing Dutch-style roundabouts to the UK road network over recent months.<\/p>\n
