Reflection…<\/p>\n

We lost. But who really cares, eh!?<\/p>\n

Yeah, ultimately the fixture was a bit of an anti-climax, and yeah it would have been brilliant to finish the season on an even higher high with a final day victory at home, however in the big scheme of things it matters not a jot.<\/p>\n

The only thing that really matters is that my beloved (…and regularly frustrating!) Sunderland AFC will be representing the great City of Sunderland in the Premier League in the 2014-15 season.<\/p>\n

I think we can forgive the lads for the lacklustre performance given our recent exploits.<\/p>\n

The atmosphere was brilliant inside the SOL, but the game on pitch had the “after the Lord Mayor’s show” feel to it. \u00a0It appeared to me that both the physical and emotional efforts of the last four or five weeks had finally caught up with the lads in Red & White.<\/p>\n

Gus made a couple of changes from the West Brom game with Phil Bardsley coming in for Marcos Alonso, and Liam Bridcutt replacing the injured Lee Cattermole.<\/p>\n

We looked a little off the pace from the start to be honest. \u00a0In a nut-shell, they scored three and we scored only one.<\/p>\n

Oh, and we should have had a penalty. Game over!<\/p>\n

When the dust finally settles, I think that the large majority of Sunderland supporters will look back at the 2013-14 season quite fondly; some very high high’s, but also some very low low’s.<\/p>\n

To find ourselves in 14th position is quite a satisfying position to finish the season. \u00a0Let’s remember – things could have been a whole lot worse!<\/p>\n

It’s been emotional, but I do love a happy ending.<\/p>\n

Bring on next season!<\/p>\n

My Man Of The Match:\u00a0Fabio Borini – Credited with capturing Sunderland’s only high-spot of the match with his nice near post header.<\/p>\n

Will be a real sadness to see him go back to Liverpool; the lad has become a firm favourite with the Sunderland faithful.<\/p>\n
