The Competition Commission today said that drivers are paying too much to insure their cars.
It is thought that the quite complex process of arranging replacement cars and vehicle repairs is what is driving the costs up costs.
The Commission found that, in a report on the motor insurance industry, insurers who were responsible for arranging services such as vehicle replacement or repair are not necessarily the insurers that ultimately foot the bill, which in turn can mean that they have little interest in keeping costs down.
