Sustainable transport charity, Sustrans, have called for school run car journeys to be cut after claiming that a reduction of just 10% would boost Britain’s economy by around £46 million a year.
The transport charity estimate that ferrying children to school by car accounts for 24% of all peak time traffic, and have also called on the Government to formally recognise the right of every child to be able to walk or cycle to school safely.
