Reflection…
Right then, here goes…
Having had a short while to gather my thoughts on today’s performance, I hope I’m not alone in feeling quite pleased with both the effort and performance on display by the lads.
Yes, granted – we lost the game, but barring the last goal whereby we were caught well out of position late in the game, the first goal was both harsh on us and totally avoidable as:
• The ball blatantly hit Sturrage’s arm for their first.
• Had Seb Larrson paid a little more attention to the ball in play whilst holding his far-post position for the corner, he would have comfortable cleared off the line for their second.
In addition to this we hit the bar and looked sharp throughout I thought.
What with our, to be fair, rather impressive statistics concerning possession and attempts on goal, we as a network of passionate supporters should take a whole lot of positives from the day: there were certainly some genuine signs of a recovery IMO.
I do, however, feel that Jozy was a little isolated for most of the game and would benefit massively from someone playing a little closer to him, but I’m sure he’ll come good.
In closing, let’s be honest, we were not given a hope of winning today’s game in the eyes of most people, both in the media and amongst the faithful, and given that we have the small matter of Man United at home up next (not normally a fixture to inspire confidence I agree!), they’re currently having huge problems themselves and have looked very average at best thus far this season.
Will we win the game?: Who knows.
Is it a winnable game?: Absolutely..!
So let’s keep out collective chin up, look forward to what is to come, and no matter what: KEEP THE FAITH.
Is that the time? I’m done…
😉
