Seatbelt Crackdown Uncovers 378 Offences.

Police across Scotland uncovered over 350 motoring offences during a 24 hour day of action to check drivers and passengers were wearing their seatbelts.

Given the potential injuries (or worse) that can be sustained should someone be involved in a collision whilst unsecured in the vehicle, these figures are both disappointing and worrying…

I have mentioned previously that I feel the current fixed penalty notice fine of just £100 is simply not enough to genuinely hit the offender in the pocket should they be caught.  For me, such a relatively small sum will deter very few.
