According to figures from the Association of Chief Police Officer’s (ACPO) compiled during their summer drink drive campaign, one in 15 of those breath-tested were found to be over the legal drink-drive limit.
The campaign which was on a national scale running from 1 June to 30 June, administered 63,688 breath tests, of which 4,108 were failed or refused. This equated to 6.5%, or in more straight forward terms this is the one in 15 as stated above.
In light of the figures released, road safety charity, Brake, has issued an appeal to the public not to drink and drive this summer, and indeed year round.
