Driving Lessons In Sunderland: IAM Mature Driver’s Assessment

By | 28/06/2014

A way for older drivers to gain a second opinion – an opinion from a trusted source – on their driving is being is being launched by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). Entitled the ‘Mature Driver’s Assessment’, and consisting of a 60 minute drive with an IAM-approved assessor, it is available for motorists over the age of 70.

While the evaluation is not of a formal nature – the IAM are keen to stress that it is not a test – the candidate will receive immediate feedback along with a confidential written report.

Recent IAM research found that, while unlikely to do anything about it, a huge 42 per cent of the population is worried about an elderly relative driving.

Personally,  I feel that such an assessment is a great way of accessing honest, constructive guidance on ones driving, however I feel that the number of drivers going ahead with the assessment will, sadly, be minimal.
