It has been revealed that local authorities issued eight million parking tickets to motorists last year alone.
This equates to one every four seconds!
The sum raised due to such penalty charge notices (PCN’s) is thought to be in excess of £255 million. The reason the sum is expected to be higher is that the figures were based upon a survey which was carried out under freedom of information laws, and it seems that less than half of the local authorities in Britain replied.
It was also found that the top 13 locations for total PCNs issued last were all London boroughs.
