Children in Need – The Big Learner Relay. What a brilliant occasion to be a part of, and what a truly brilliant cause!

Tuesday 4 November 2014… a day which will live long in the memory. The reason? Chris Chambers School of Motoring was proud to be a part of this first of its kind fundraiser as the designated lead car for the Boldon to Peterlee leg of the relay, as it passed through Newcastle on its way to York.

Should you have missed my previous related post, essentially the fundraising effort consists of a driving school relay-style event over the course of 13 days, and involves 147 legs / end locations throughout the United Kingdom, covering a not insignificant 2,130 + mile route. At the conclusion of each leg, a traditional driving school vehicle roof sign (adorned with the CiN Big Learner Relay logo and accompanying Pudsey Bear, of course!) is being handed over to the next participating driver trainer and their student (a huge thank you to my student, Dylan Laverick, for his efforts – top man).

Along with meeting and spending a little time with a number of my peers, the day culminated with me somehow managing to get myself interviewed live on BBC Radio Tees!

…Result, eh!?

While I have personally played only a small part in what is a absolutely huge collective effort, I must take this opportunity to take my hat off to the event’s brainchild, Louise Walsh ADI, and her dedicated committee for what they have achieved.
