The Transport Minister has urged the Government to switch off traffic lights outside rush hour periods in an attempt to ease congestion.
It has been said that the proposals will be considered, however the Government have no current plans to implement such a change.
Many other countries currently turn off certain traffic signals in order to prevent thousands of motorists being stuck in unnecessary traffic jams.
