Hitting a street near you soon – provided you live in Germany that is! A new generation of traffic light pedestrian buttons have been developed by German engineers, whereby an actual video game has been installed into them.
The system is currently in its development phase, and is known as “StreetPong”.
Instead of the normal display simply showing the word “wait” or an image of a red man at traffic lights, the new device allows users to play a classic arcade game against an opponent on the other side of the road.
How cool is that, eh!?
If the development happens to make its way to the UK, I can guarantee that I will be using pedestrian crossings as much as a pedestrian as I currently do as a driver in future!
