A study by Kwik Fit has found that almost half of drivers in the UK (45% to be exact) significantly misjudge safe stopping distances. Worryingly, such misjudgements dramatically increase the risk of serious collisions, injury, or even death.
Such is the underestimation, the study found that only one in 10 drivers managed to assess the stopping distance when initially travelling at the motorway speeds.
