That’s right folks – you did read the headline correctly..!
The newly developed technology allows the driver to actually get out of the vehicle while the car parks itself.
To be honest I am a little torn on this one…
Ultimately such technology could be very useful; particularly for disabled people or older people. Whilst I am all for ground-breaking vehicle technology, technology can and does go wrong. There are many vehicles currently in production utilising self-parking technology; however these vehicles still require the driver to remain in the car. The very thought of unmanned cars basically driving themselves is a little too risky in my opinion as I am pretty sure that at some point, the technology will go wrong and someone will be injured or worse.
Not good…
Further more, such technology will require a change in the law as currently we have a law in place (to be fair a largely-ignored one!) which forbids drivers from leaving the vehicle while the engine is running.
