Four people were found guilty at Sheffield Crown Court for their part in a £500,000 fraud conspiracy.
The gang, described by Police as a “a professionally-planned, highly-organised group”, deliberately crashed a 12 tonne bus with 26 passengers on board.
Seven other people had already pleaded guilty to their part in the conspiracy.
For me, it is a sad state of affairs to think of the shocking lengths fraudsters are willing to go to in order to make, what I assume they consider as, easy money… obviously the danger involved for those unfortunate enough to be targeted is not taken into consideration.
It is thought that ‘crash-for-cash’ costs the insurance industry in the region of £392 million per year: unfortunately it the honest people amongst us that feel it in the pocket.
