New Driver Kills Friend In Crash Just Four Days After Passing Driving Test.

By | 30/01/2014

The driver, aged 21, lost control at 60mph on a country road which resulted in his silver Renault Clio smashing into a tree, killing his nineteen year old front seat passenger.

In court, the driver pleaded guilty to the charge of causing death by careless driving, and in turn was sentenced to just 12 months in jail along with being banned from driving for five years.

It seems that he already had form as he had been convicted of a string of serious motoring offences previously, and was twice banned from the road before he even had a full driving licence.

The measly sentence of just 12 months, I feel, simply serves to send out the wrong message given that the consequences of the drivers’ actions resulted in the tragic death of an innocent man.
