Norwich City v Sunderland AFC – Barclays Premier League.

By | 22/03/2014

Match date: Saturday 22 March 2014.

Final Score: Norwich 2 – 0 Sunderland

Reflection…

One word: PATHETIC.

Sorry, my mistake – two words: ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC.

Simply gutless – Zero confidence along with zero passion equals zero points for Sunderland…

This one – like many games this season – was very difficult to watch.

To find ourselves on the wrong end of yet another ‘relegation six-pointer’, and to be defeated in such a manner is huge cause for concern…

The problem?  We have absolutely zero goals in the side, and with Fabio Borini being played out wide, our only real goal scoring threat is basically being extinguished; and to add insult to injury today, Alonso goes and has himself sent off.  The way he was putting himself about, it was only a matter of time really.

Question:  Do the players actually care?!

Worryingly, for me based upon today’s performance there was very little evidence to support the notion that they really do.  The only saving grace from today’s debacle is the fact that all of our relegation threatened counterparts lost also…  aside from Norwich of course.

Huge opportunity missed: Ten fixtures remain – still time?!

So, being a true supporter and forever the optimist, I will of course endeavour to blindly believe that we can retain our Premier League status until it is mathematically impossible to stay up, however my optimism is certainly waning at this point.

Get it sorted, Gus.

Anyway, in closing and to quote the great Forrest Gump, “That’s all I have to say about that…”

My Man Of The Match:  Each and every member of the Sunderland faithful who made the major trip to Norfolk, only to be served up with that rubbish.  I salute each and every one.  We Sunderland supporters deserve far, far better.

Next up – Liverpool away at Anfield.

Keep The Faith.
