Short-Notice Driving Test Cancellations: Welcome Changes Made.

By | 22/03/2014

Welcome news has been released from the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, formerly DSA) concerning their introduction of a more flexible approach to the way it handles tests cancelled by candidates at short notice.

Currently, test candidates automatically lose their fee should they cancel their driving test without giving DVSA a full three clear days’ notice.

The changes, which come into effect from 1 April 2014, will enable test candidates to ask for a rebooking at short notice without charge if they are unable to take their test because of:

  • A medically certified illness.
  • A bereavement.
  • School exams.

DVSA will also continue to offer a refund or new test date to serving members of the armed forces who are called for duty.
