Figures obtained by MSN Cars have revealed that a massive 71 countries have each racked up debts of more than £100,000 in Congestion Charge fees, and it seems that the embassies are actually refusing to pay them.
Transport for London (TfL), who compiled the figures, have said they both themselves and the Government are clear that the Congestion Charge is actually a payment for a service provided and not a tax, which therefore means that diplomats are not exempt from paying it.
All unpaid fees and related penalty charge notices are being pursued, and are actually pushing for the matter to be taken up at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
