Powerful Pictures Say A Thousand Words.

They say that a picture can say a thousand words . . .

The law on seatbelts was introduced on 31 January 1983 which required all drivers to wear a seatbelt.  Around this time it is thought that 90% (yes, that many!) of front-seat passengers were also wearing seatbelts.

If memory serves, it was circa 1991 when the law was changed once again: this time bringing it into law for adults to wear seatbelts in the back of cars.

This brings me onto the point of my post: I personally still observe quite a large amount of rear-seat passengers travelling unsecured.

For whatever reason, some people don’t appreciate the potential consequence of being unsecured in the event of an RTA.  Given the potential forces and inertia involved, being thrown forward towards the seat in front could literally be akin to being thrown against a brick wall . . . not pleasant.

I stumbled upon the image below on my travels which sends out a fairly strong message.

Stay safe folks,

Chris
