Reflection…
Well, following the absolute joy and delight of reaching the Capital One Cup final midweek, today’s FA cup-tie against non-league opposition was always going to be struggling to live up to our midweek exploits!
Given that the players had endured extra-time against United, unsurprisingly Gus made sweeping changes to the side from that which competed so admirably earlier in the week. Only Lee Cattermole made the starting line-up which can only be described as a second-string side consisting of predominantly Di Canio era signings, along with a couple of new boys.
The match itself was nothing to get overly excited about, but it was a very controlled, possession oriented performance which ultimately produced the – let’s be honest – nothing less than expected victory given our lower league opponents.
So into the fifth round of the FA cup we go!
Good job, well done.
Next up – back to our Premier League survival campaign on Tuesday evening at the SOL against Stoke.
Bring it on..!
My Man Of The Match: Charis Mavrias for his match winning strike.
