An positive initiative, named the ‘Kids in the Car campaign’, which aims to persuade drivers to improve their standards when children are in their cars, has received the backing of the Scottish government.
It is thought that children are highly influenced by what they witness from as early as the age of two or three. Children learn from the example set by their parents both inside and outside of the car, and in turn develop their own behaviour.

Research found that bad habits included:
• Exceeding the speed limit by at least 10mph
• Accelerating to drive through an amber traffic signal
• Shouting or swearing at other drivers or pedestrians
• Driving while tired
