So there I was lying in bed, when it suddenly dawned on me that today was my day off. Yes, a day off… Result! Now, given that I have not had the time to spend washing my car of late which was, thanks in the most part to mother nature, so dirty that I could only […]
According to worrying findings of a survey by insurance company Axa and the Road Safety Analysis organisation, road casualty incidents within 500 metres of schools are on the increase. Findings from the period 2011 to 2013 showed that: • 69% of all child road casualty accidents occurred within 500 metres of a school; • There were 201 road […]
The Government have stated that they are considering a revision of the current driving test, with the emphasis on reflecting more real-life driving. The proposed shake-up could very well mean the end of the ‘turn in the road’ manoeuvre (commonly known and referred to as ‘three-point turn’), with more realistic ‘everyday’ manoeuvres such as reversing […]
While browsing the internet recently, I stumbled upon this ironic and amusing image. Given that we in the great City of Sunderland have experienced a marked drop in temperature over the last week or so, it is likely only a matter of time before the dreaded snow shows up to spoil things… So, Mother Nature… […]
Welcome back to the legendary Green Cross Code Man! That’s right folks – you did read that correctly. I happened to stumble upon this gem of an image earlier while browsing the web. Seeing such an image does make you wonder just how it managed to end up in that position! Picture the scene, “Please could you find somewhere safe, convenient and legal to stop on the left…” “Erm… right then. That’s not […]
The headline says it all really! 1.5 million learner drivers will take a driving test this year with the goal of attaining the coveted full driving licence, however just under half of those will pass. While I don’t want this post to go down the age-old route of cost, I have said before and I […]
A HUGE congratulations to Dylan Laverick of Sunderland, on passing his driving test today at Sunderland DTC! Despite the horrendous weather, Dylan (who is also a massive Sunderland AFC supporter!) drove like a champ to pass first time. Well done Dylan, it’s been an absolute pleasure working with you and being a part of your […]
A taxi driver has reaches an impressive milestone in his Ford Mondeo taxi – both he and the taxi have clocked up one million miles together. The red 1.8 turbo diesel Mondeo, purchased in December 1996 for £14,000, has travelled the equivalent of driving around the earth 40 times using the same engine! Just consider […]
