A court has heard how a gang of car thieves targeted luxury vehicles in airport car parks, and fitted them with tracking devices in order to steal them when the owners had returned home.
According to the article in The Telegraph, the thieves managed this by using sophisticated cloning devices in order to replicate the increasingly common “contact-less” type keys at the airport car parks.
The vehicles stolen, worth between £50,000 pounds and £70,000 pounds, were stolen weeks or even months later by using a tracking device to locate the vehicles; some considerably more expensive cars including a Bentley Continental and a McLaren sports car were also stolen.
Undercover Police caught the group following a covert operation using a “Trojan” car.
The trial of those concerned continues.
