A thief was branded “crass and stupid” after being arrested for arriving at a court appearance in a stolen vehicle.
It seems that the 29 year old stole a Vauxhall Corsa from a garage forecourt the night before he was due to appear at court on other motoring matters.
Police knew that the man was due to be there, so they also went along – and proceeded to arrested him for the theft of the Corsa.
The man later appeared at court where he admitted to burglary, unlawful vehicle-taking, theft of a Vauxhall Corsa and driving while disqualified.
He was in turn jailed for 15 months.
