A mission so brilliantly and clinically executed that even Tom Cruise would go green with envy!
Sunderland in Wonderland!
If the last five weeks have been but a dream, please don’t wake me up!
What an absolutely incredible achievement by my beloved Sunderland Association Football Club to secure Barclays Premier League safety in such an impressive manner.
Many predicted a very tame affair expecting both sides playing defensively for the single point which would be enough to secure Premier League safety for both clubs – this did not happen!
Happily, Sunderland did not follow the script. We were destined to win the game.
As expected Sunderland came out of the blocks playing their attractive ‘build from the back’ style of football, and looked keen to secure safety in style by taking the game to Albion from the off. Sunderland were fully in control throughout, and we secured the much needed and desired win with goals from Jack Colback and Fabio Borini.
It was a strange but amazing mix of emotions at the final whistle – think a combination of utter pride and utter relief. To see Poyet embracing the lads at the end of the game in front of the 45,000 + faithful in attendance was a beautiful thing!
What a season, eh?!
To make things even more incredible in this ‘never a dull moment’ world of Sunderland AFC, we could realistically finish the league campaign in 12 position!

So now, I think it’s only fitting that we to put the proverbial cherry on the cake by beating Swansea ate the weekend; Lads, let’s finish it in style!
My Man Of The Match: Another great display and performance all round, however while being difficult to single out an individual, as last match Lee Cattermole would be my choice. The lad has displayed a level of discipline of late not generally associated with him, while being the integral cog in an excellent midfield three.
We have had the pleasure of witnessing the REAL Lee Cattermole for the past four or five games; Long may it continue.
Next up – Swansea at the SOL in the final fixture of the season.
