As many of you will be aware, my biggest personal concern on the road is the seemingly increasing use of mobile devices while behind the wheel – I see many such instances occur on a daily basis. While I appreciate that communication technology plays a huge role in the everyday lives of most people nowadays, there is a time and a place… While driving not being one of them.
Worryingly, many motorists still don’t either understand, appreciate, or even care about the danger they are putting both themselves, and other road users, in by using their phone while driving.
However, the dangers are all too real, with statistics showing that mobile use is now the leading cause of death behind the wheel.
While doing some research I stumbled upon a brilliantly worked, point-proving, and thoroughly thought provoking short film from car giants, Volkswagen, which illustrates the behaviour of people, and how easily they are distracted by their mobile devices.
