According to CarNetNews.co.uk, a man from Northumberland has been given a taxi licence despite a shocking record.
This has caused furore amongst road safety campaigners as the man in question has 62 convictions to his name, including 16 of driving when disqualified and 13 for driving without insurance…
North Tyneside Council initially refused to proffer a taxi licence, however the licence was granted following an appeal to magistrates that he was now a changed man.
Whilst I am all for giving the opportunity for people to change, I just feel that given such a record, this particular drivers’ lessons should have been learned a long time ago. Without trying to sound harsh, for me “rules are rules”.
