According to a survey conducted by AA/Populus, almost a third of the motorists polled admitted to modifying their on road habits since the new careless driving fines were introduced 12 months ago.
The survey, which involved 16,606 drivers, showed that 29% have altered their behaviour.
The findings come in the wake of new measures which allow police to issue a fixed penalty notice for less serious examples of careless driving, which include middle-lane hogging and tailgating.
