In light of the recent news that the traditional paper car tax disc is to be replaced by an all electronic system, I have stumbled upon a great infographic produced the the DVLA (Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency), which chronicles the journey since its inception way back in 1921 when the very first tax disc was issued.
As of the October 1st 2014, the paper tax disc will no longer need to be displayed on a vehicle windscreen as its abolition is part of a larger Government initiative to streamline services, and to save the taxpayer £10 million every year.

As is the norm, stay safe out there!
