Campaigners Concern Over Proposed M1 Motorway Changes.

Campaigners from the Association of British Drivers (ABD) are concerned that drivers’ lives at being put at risk due to the proposed removal of the hard shoulder.

Their main concern is that the lack of a continuous hard shoulder, combined with the fact that many modern vehicles’ do not come equipped with a spare wheel, could very well be a recipe for danger.

The ABD have raised their concerns in the wake of recent proposals by the Highways Agency to introduce a 60mph zone – dubbed ‘smart motorway’ – on the M1 in order to help reduce vehicle emissions.
