A Father decided to ’embarrass’ his son and to make a point to other parents to be aware of their children’s driving habits.
There are, I suppose, a number of ways said embarrassment could be achieved, and on this occasion the father decided to use an interesting method.
In what can be described as both an amusing method, but one ultimately carrying a serious message, the drivers’ father advertised the remains of his son’s wrecked 14-year-old Honda Civic 1.4 for sale on free classified ad site Gumtree.
The ad also carried a picture of the car on its roof, all for the grand sum of 1p!
The father posted the ad as a means of shaming his son into driving more carefully.
In addition to the picture, the ad also featured comments such as, “Due to son thinking he’s Colin McRae, I now have a 2000 Honda Civic 1.4 breaking for spares” and “It seems a 1.4 was too much for him to handle. He talked the talk, but certainly didn’t walk the walk – he will be walking now, for a long time” in the description!
My personal favourite line was, “It seems his ambition outweighed his talent on this occasion. I can’t think why! He’s been driving for over a week now…”.
I certainly think it’s a unique method of increasing awareness of what is an important topic – hopefully the message inside it will be heard.
